WEF Stormwater Newsletter Premiers

Newsletter Is Latest in Perfect Storm of Activities and Education at WEF

Today saw the premier of a new publication designed to keep water quality professionals informed about activities and developments related to the topic of stormwater — a subject of comprehensive and rapidly expanding portfolio at the Water Environment Federation (WEF).

The Stormwater Report, the latest in an innovative range of programs and resources, will publish monthly free of charge and cover advanced practices, cutting-edge research, policy updates, and current events pertaining to stormwater. For example, readers will be kept abreast of the many stormwater-related sessions, workshops, and meetings planned for WEFTEC 2011, which will, for the first time ever, feature continuous stormwater programming during each day of the conference.

"Stormwater represents one of the most important challenges facing water quality professionals," said WEF Executive Director Jeff Eger. ‘WEF will continue to develop and incorporate related programs to meet the needs of the water sector, providing the best education and training available."

"WEF leaders are also firmly committed to effective stormwater education on the policy and public education levels," he added. "We are actively working with congressional and regulatory officials in support of science-based policies and regulation."

To support WEF's goal of becoming the go-to resource for stormwater professionals, the Federation has a number of publications coming down the pipe with committee activities now coordinated with its newly formed Stormwater Coordinating Council. And in addition to other publications such as the upcoming Manual of Practice 23, Urban Runoff Quality Management, WEF stormwater highlights include a free "Meeting the Public Education Requirements of the Municipal Stormwater Permit" webcast and followed by a June 15 webcast update on green infrastructure costs and regulatory updates, and a Stormwater Utility Seminar scheduled for August 4 in Chicago.
