Spray Dryer Absorbers
Although the majority of heavy metals generated by waste incineration condense on fly ash or spray-drying products and are removed from the gas stream in the particulate collector, mercury may remain as a vapor throughout conventional spray-drying processes. To control mercury emissions, Environmental Elements provides a mercury removal system which adds metered activated carbon, in slurry form, through the atomizer. Our method of removal simplifies the handling of the activated carbon dust and allows the atomized spray of carbon to mix effectively with the flue gas. Mercury is then adsorbed into the activated carbon and is removed downstream in the particulate collector.
