Monitoring Instruments for the Environment, Inc. (MIE, Inc.) Real-Time Aerosol Monitor measures mass concentrations of airborne dust, smoke, mists, haze, and fumes and provides continuous real-time readouts. A large capacity onboard data logging capability enables the user to save concentration data for future analysis. This high-sensitivity nephelometric monitor samples air at a constant, regulated flow rate through a built-in diaphragm pump. It can be used for exposure sampling or continuous unattended indoor air, ambient, duct or process monitoring.

The system offers a measurement range from 0.0001 mg/m³ (0.1µg/m³) to 400 mg/m³. The instrument can also be used for atmospheric visibility measurements over a range of scattering coefficients (0.00015 to 600 km-1. An auto-ranging digital display provides real-time and time-averaged concentrations. For either manual or preprogrammed/automatic zeroing of the monitor, an electronically controlled latching solenoid valve is used, and on-screen diagnostic indicators and automatic shut-off are employed to help ensure the monitor's correct operation and data storage.

This unit provides continuous digital out by means of a RS232C data port as well as analog output, and a switched output for selectable high-level alarm with a built-in audible signal. An 8eight-line LCD screen can display real-time and date, time-weighted average concentrations, elapsed run times, operating parameters, and diagnostic information.
