Nuclear Onsite Testing

NUCON has the largest and most experienced Field Testing staff in the world. We have provided testing services at nuclear facilities for over twenty five years as a company. Some of our staff has been involved in Nuclear Air Treatment System testing for over 35 years and in the nuclear industry since the mid 1950s. No other company can offer such depth of experience. Our clients include over 95% of the power reactors in the United States; plus U.S. DOE, U.S. DOD, U.S. EPA and nuclear facilities in Canada, Mexico, England, Scotland, Spain, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Hungary, Slovakia, Korea, The Philippines, Taiwan, China and Brazil.

The most common field testing NUCON provides is to help the facility comply with the NRC Regulatory Guides 1.52 & 1.140. Testing requirements from these Guides are included as part of all U.S. power reactors Licenses. The same testing requirements are also included in ASME Standards N509 & N510 as well as the ASME Code AG-1, Section TA. NUCON also performs the radioisotope testing required by these documents.

NUCON Field Services personnel are fully qualified to perform the subject work as defined in all relevant regulations and Standards. Of course technical qualifications come first. The detailed requirements of ANSI N45.2.6 or ANS 3.1 are both met by all NUCON Field Services staff. They also have complete documentation for security, drug testing and radiation exposure history up to date and available for audit. The NUCON Quality Assurance Program meets the requirements of 10CFR50, Appendix B and is regularly audited by operating utilities. Our comprehensive documentation allows our personnel to enter nuclear facilities with a minimum of delay or effort on the clients part.

NUCON has developed a set of field testing instruments to perform N510 & AG-1, Section TA testing that is unequaled. The Instrumentation Department receives direct feed back from the NUCON field personnel. In fact, the NUCON Instrumentation department has personnel qualified to perform the testing themselves. This ensures the instruments provide the most accurate and efficient operation in the difficult situations found in contaminated facilities.

NUCON provides Tracer Gas Studies for Control Room In Leakage Testing and similar complex pressure boundary and flow studies.

By having a large staff of fully qualified personnel NUCON can meet a sites emergency needs. Most of our work is scheduled in advance but NUCON regularly responds to calls for next day (or even same day) service.

The NUCON Field Services Department offers regularly scheduled basic and advanced Training Seminars for basic and advanced testing to ASME N510 and AG-1, Section TA and customized (Bulletin 12B14) On-Site Training courses.

NUCON has the only full size Nuclear Air Treatment System, a 6,000 scfm Standby Gas Treatment System, dedicated to training use in the world. Custom seminars are offered at NUCON or at your facility.
