New, improved Nafion gas dryers from Perma Pure

Source: Perma Pure Inc.

Preparation of gas samples for analysis just got easier with the new, improved PD-Series of Nafion Gas Dryers by Perma Pure. These dryers selectively remove water from gas samples without removing analyte gases. The new design includes a more rugged assembly with extra seals to accept higher pressures without any possible loss of sample gases.

Gas sample analysis requires a clean, dry sample to produce the most accurate and reliable results. Filters remove entrained particles, but removing moisture from a sample without affecting analytes is not so simple. Chiller/condenser, desiccant, and permeation dryers all typically suffer analyte loss during the drying process, but Perma Pure dryers constructed of Nafion do not. Nafion, a chemical modification of Teflon, is selectively permeable to water, but otherwise shares the chemical resistance of Teflon. Nafion tubing removes water vapor from gas streams while the rest of the gas sample passes unchanged. Water escapes from the exterior of the tubing continuously while the sample dew point is reduced to as low as -45°C (only 75 ppm of water).
