MiniVol Portable Air Sampler

Source: Airmetrics
The MiniVol Portable Air Sampler samples ambient air at 5 liters/minute for particulate matter (TSP, PM10, PM2.5) and/or non-reactive gases (CO, NOx).
Affordable and portable, the MiniVol Portable Air Sampler samples ambient air at 5 liters/minute for particulate matter (TSP, PM10, PM2.5) and/or non-reactive gases (CO, NOx). While not an FRM sampler or an equivalent method, the MiniVol provides results that approximate reference method data; comparative studies are available.

The MiniVol features an elapsed time totalizer, a programmable timer, low flow and low battery shut-offs, operation from rechargeable batteries, and rugged PVC construction. The filter holder assembly can be configured for either TSP, PM10, or PM2.5 sampling, and a MiniVol with gas ability can sample for non-reactive gases simultaneously while sampling for particulate matter.

Particle size separation is achieved through impaction. The particulate matter is collected on 47mm filters, which must be weighed pre- and post-exposure to determine concentration in micrograms/cubic meter.

When purchased new, the MiniVol comes standard with a pump unit, 2 preseparator/cassette filter holders, 2 rechargeable batteries, a universal transformer, 2 carrying boxes, an Operation Manual, and a spare parts kit. The durable batteries can operate to sampler continously for 24 hours of sampling. All Airmetrics products come with a one-year warranty.

To complement use to the MiniVol, Airmetrics also offers filter weighing services, calibration services, and rental samplers. In addition, Airmetrics carries a full line of consumables and accessories, along with calibration orifices and field calibration kits. In addition, Airmetrics offers filter cassettes and mailers that conform to the new FRM PM2.5 sampler specifications.

The patented low-flow technology found in the MiniVol sampler was jointly developed by the US EPA and Airmetrics. The EPA owns nearly 200 MiniVols, which are housed in east and west coast repositories and are available for use by local air authorities and native American Indian tribes.
