Mill Fire Detection System (MFDS)

Forney's Mill Fire Detection System (MFDS) can notify you of a potentially hazardous situation in your mill before a fire starts, preventing damage to equipment and personnel. An impending fire can be predicted by monitoring the carbon monoxide (CO) concentrations in the atmosphere surrounding coal. In fact, a predictable increase in CO levels occurs up to 1½ hours before the first visual indication of a fire.

It is no longer necessary to accept the hazards of fires and explosions while processing and storing pulverized coal.

Systems Features

• Single climate-controlled, 19" rack mounted analyzer.
• Manifolds with up to sixteen (16) electrochemical sensors mounted as a set of two (2) per channel.
• Sensors are maintained at a constant temperature.
• Analyzer uses a solid-state detector, recognized for its ruggedness and low maintenance requirements.
• Proprietary probe allows the extraction of a representative sample from the dust-laden atmosphere.
• Coherent sampling system handles up to eight sample points with continuous feedback.
• Latest microprocessor technology performs automatic calibration and alarming functions in the system itself, such as failure to calibrate, loss of sample, etc.
• Self-diagnostic program identifies any problem and indicates it on the HMI display.
