The patented Series 1944 mercury-free level control/switch is designed for monitoring and controlling levels in holding tanks, sumps, lift stations, cooling towers, and sewage systems. It is suitable for a variety of control functions such as high-level or low-level alarms and starting or stopping pumps, motors, or heaters. Two models exist: the LS-1944-1 switch, a narrow-angle (45-deg) float switch; and the LC-1944-2, a mechanical latching wide-angle float switch. The LC-1944-2 has a moving counterweight which causes the float to flip over at the high- and low-level control points. This is said to provide a positive switching action even in turbulent conditions..
