Las Vegas Monorail On The Eco-Friendly Fast Track

Las Vegas, NV - In honor of Earth Day, the Las Vegas Monorail Company is promoting the electric, zero-emissions transportation system to eco-minded Vegas visitors as an alternative to traditional automobile and mass transit. Savvy travelers can support an earth-friendly initiative to reduce traffic and pollution on Earth Day, April 22, 2007, simply by riding the Monorail to reach their destinations along the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. The US Department of Transportation lists alternative "clean" modes of transportation, like the Monorail, at the top of its recommendations for effective ways to reduce emissions.
"Las Vegas is one of the world's most visited cities, and as a transportation provider, we recognize the need for solutions that address conveyance, congestion and pollution," said Ingrid Reisman, vice president of corporate communications for the Las Vegas Monorail Company. "The Monorail provides an ongoing means of promoting a healthy and sustainable planet through its zero-emissions design. It's our pleasure – and responsibility – to embody Earth Day initiatives for cleaner air."
As one of the nation's most environmentally-friendly public transportation systems, the Monorail's electric trains consistently run at 99 percent operational efficiency, indicating an optimal level of performance from people, processes and technology. Environmentally-conscious visitors who ride the Monorail aid in the annual removal of an estimated 4.4 million automobile trips from southern Nevada's major roadways, potentially reducing carbon monoxide emissions by 135 tons over the course of a year.
