Imminent Texas Regulations Spell Success For Siemens MAXUM II
Siemens Gains $6.3 Million Order As TCEQ Compliance Deadline Draws Nearer
Houston, TX - Siemens Energy & Automation has won a $6.3 million order to provide equipment and services to a Fortune 500 petrochemical company working to meet flare and cooling tower requirements as outlined by the Texas Commission for Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
The company, which asked to not be named, is the first to make a major Highly Reactive Volatile Organic Compounds (HR-VOC) order as the TCEQ Dec. 31, 2005, deadline approaches for implementing tighter pollution restrictions in the Houston/Galveston area.
The contract includes upwards of 50 of the company's MAXUM II process gas chromatographs, systems integration--comprising more than 40 analyzer shelters and sample conditioning systems--and training and startup.
According to Siemens, approaching TCEQ regulatory deadlines have local refineries and chemical plants investing in new technology to meet the state's updated requirements. At the center of this race to upgrade are new regulations outlined in Chapter 115 on the TCEQ's regulations for the Control of Air Pollution from (HR-VOC) in the Houston, Galveston region.
"This order comes as part of our commitment to provide products and training that anticipate our customers' needs," said Ron Holsey, Siemens business director. "To ensure best possible success in this area, a team consisting of sales, system integration, application development and product support have been dedicated to support our customers with this new regulation. For instance, new training courses are specifically designed to cover the HR-VOC application."
The project will be delivered in several packages over a period of 14 months starting in May 2004.
