Greensboro Business Achieves Certification For Reducing Its Carbon Footprint
BounceU certified by ESG Energy for Achieving a 10 Percent Reduction in Their Carbon Footprint
Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) - The BounceU facility in Greensboro NC has been awarded certification through the Carbon Footprint Reduction Program (CFRP). To achieve the certification, carbon emissions at the facility were independently measured and verified by ESG Energy to the international standard, ISO 14064-1, for quantifying and reporting an organization's carbon footprint. As a result, Bounce U is able to demonstrate a minimum 10 percent reduction in emissions in 2011.
Julie Chapman, owner of BounceU in Greensboro said, "Last year, ESG Energy conducted a professional evaluation of our energy use and provided recommendations for reducing our overall carbon footprint. BounceU followed those recommendations and lowered our energy consumption by over 10%." "Sure, reducing our operating cost is good. But our customers - mostly moms & dads with young children - will be most interested in how reducing our carbon footprint helps the environment," said Chapman. Since BounceU also typically employs local teens and university students, the impact extends more deeply into the community.

Carbon reporting is currently a voluntary process for small businesses operating in the United States, however, thousands of organizations across the country have started monitoring their energy use in anticipation of carbon emissions regulation at the local level. "Several cities in western states begin mandatory reporting of energy consumption this spring," said Steve Armstrong, a senior energy consultant with ESG Energy. "Measurement is a necessary component of energy independence, which in turn will ensure that the United States remains the world's economic leader."
