Gravity Launches Energy Management Marketplace To Reduce Energy Costs And Emissions
New offering meets demand for actionable energy projects that drive business value, generating $16M in customer savings to date
San Francisco, CA /PRNewswire/ - Gravity, the leading enterprise carbon accounting and energy management platform, today announced the launch of its Energy Management Marketplace. As energy costs rise, the marketplace connects Gravity's customers with a wide range of actionable energy projects to help lower both their operating costs and carbon footprints. To date, Gravity has generated $16 million in lifetime savings for its customers through marketplace projects deployed in collaboration with trusted implementation partners.
"Businesses lose $2 trillion every year to inefficient energy use. Beyond the climate consequences, this is wasteful spend that can be reinvested in other parts of the business to improve bottom lines," said Saleh ElHattab, Co-Founder and CEO of Gravity. "Organizations are already collecting that data for corporate disclosure, often through painstaking manual methods. The Gravity platform automates energy and cost tracking across an organization's operations and goes beyond just reporting. We identify cost-saving measures and then finance and facilitate their execution."
Gravity automatically tracks energy consumption and costs through AI-powered scanning of utility bills, fuel invoices, and other documents, as well as direct integrations with over 9,000 utility and telematics providers. Unlike other platforms that stop at monitoring, Gravity turns this data into actionable insights and works with its customers to identify opportunities with the highest potential to reduce energy costs and emissions. Gravity quantifies the value of each opportunity upfront by prequalifying projects and generating indicative quotes. Then, Gravity's in-house energy management team matches customers with a network of trusted vendors offering high-quality services at competitive prices. This streamlines both decision-making and implementation, giving Gravity customers access to fast and low-risk energy efficiency results, supported by partners who deliver.
Gravity's marketplace has already generated millions of dollars in energy savings for dozens of customers. Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry, a leading aluminum castings manufacturer, completed an onsite energy assessment with Gravity and is pursuing projects projected to save over $150,000 annually at its Dee Manufacturing facility in Crookston, Minnesota. Current projects include equipment upgrades and compressed air system improvements, with additional opportunities for lighting and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) optimization identified through Gravity. Lindsay Precast, a premier precast concrete manufacturer in the United States, expects an impactful reduction in electricity usage at its Pennsylvania facility from HVAC and air compressor improvements identified via the Gravity platform.
"Our partnership with Gravity has allowed us to mitigate rising electricity costs across our business," commented Chris Beecher, President and COO at Lindsay Precast. "They helped us complete an onsite energy assessment, identify key energy efficiency opportunities, and take actions to reduce energy use."
Gravity's Energy Management Marketplace offers customers the opportunity to implement a wide variety of energy projects, including:
- Power Factor Correction: Power factor correction hardware reduces electricity bills for manufacturers by minimizing reactive power consumption, which can often result in heavy utility penalties. Gravity partners with providers such as McGill Power to deliver this technology to its customers.
- Demand Response Enrollment: Demand response (DR) enables companies to earn cash by reducing or shifting electricity use during times of grid stress, high prices, or high emissions. Gravity has partnered with Voltus, a leading virtual power plant operator, to enroll Gravity customers into cost- and risk-free DR programs across all nine wholesale power markets in the US and Canada. By participating in DR programs, customers get paid to make the electric grid more reliable, affordable, and sustainable.
- Solar and Battery Storage Installation: Solar and battery energy storage provides energy independence, protects from rising utility rates and outages, and unlocks new revenue streams through demand charge reduction and time-of-use optimization. Gravity works with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction firms (EPCs) and technology vendors to deploy behind-the-meter solutions. To streamline rigorous financial evaluation with data on the Gravity platform, Lumen Energy conducts feasibility studies across customer sites to make actionable recommendations that lead to project deployments. Gravity also works with solutions providers, like Critical Loop and Viridi Parente, to deploy battery storage systems. Critical Loop focuses on integrated power management solutions for industrial sites and temporary power solutions, and Viridi Parente is a US-based manufacturer of "fail-safe" lithium-ion technology designed for safe installation in occupied spaces and around critical infrastructure.
- Cooling Tower Optimization: Cooling tower optimization platforms provide real-time support in response to changes in weather or cooling loads, reducing customers' cooling system operating costs by 5-10%. Baltimore Aircoil Company has partnered with Gravity to enable net energy cost savings for Gravity customers.
- Fleet Electrification: Fleet electrification analysis helps fleet managers identify opportunities to reduce costs and emissions across their fleets by switching to electric vehicles. Gravity collaborates with Sawatch Labs, a WEX® company, to identify fleet electrification opportunities for its customers.
- LED Lighting Retrofits: LED lighting uses up to 75% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and lasts 25 times longer, cutting both electricity costs and replacement frequency. Gravity works with multiple national and local contractors to deploy projects that have saved over $200,000 so far this year.
- Project Financing, Credits, and Incentives: CapEx requirements are often a barrier to deploying energy efficiency projects. Gravity partners with TaxTaker and Renew Energy Partners to secure lucrative tax incentives and off-balance sheet financing, respectively, to make projects financially viable. In addition, Ever.green helps customers procure high-impact renewable energy certificates (RECs) to meet sustainability goals and offers clean energy tax credits, which deliver a financial return.
Gravity will continue expanding its Energy Management Marketplace with new project offerings and vendor partnerships to help customers reduce energy costs and emissions.
