Biosphere 2 is the unique environmental simulation laboratory operated by Columbia University in Oracle, Arizona. It consists of more than three acres of contained ecosystems where scientists can manipulate the environment to simulate a variety of conditions, such as temperature, humidity and atmospheric composition. Columbia University makes Biosphere 2 available to researchers in many disciplines for large-scale testing of issues that can affect the future of the earth -- Biosphere 1.
