Environmental Elements Corporation (AMEX:EEC) announced today that it has established a wholly-owned subsidiary in Ottawa, Canada. EEC Plant Services Ltd. will serve as EEC's regional maintenance center for Canada and will offer a full range of products, technology and services to Canadian customers.

"The opening of EEC Plant Services follows our strategy of locating our people and our delivery of after-market products and services close to major existing customers, and to leverage our local presence into a variety of new business relationships," said John L. Sams, EEC's president and CEO. "Our presence in Canada, where many of our major pulp and paper customers operate numerous facilities, will enable us to better identify the needs of these companies and those of prospective customers and deliver the appropriate products and services. As with all of our regional maintenance centers and subsidiaries, EEC Plant Services will have access to all of EEC's resources to respond to their customers' requirements," said Sams.

Raymond Burelle, P. Eng., is manager of the new maintenance center. He has over 15 years of extensive experience in the pulp and paper and utility industries in the area of power generation and chemical recovery. Burelle obtained his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Laval University in Quebec. He worked for several years with Combustion Engineering and Tampella Power in Canada, and was recently regional manager for the GL&V Pulp Group. EEC plans to further expand its presence in Canada by adding field service and maintenance capabilities in both Eastern and Western Canada by April 2002. EEC Plant Services Ltd. is located at 1131 Charest Way, Orleans, ON, Canada, K4A 4A5, and can be reached at (613) 824-8571.

EEC currently operates five additional North American regional maintenance centers located in Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, Texas and Wisconsin, and one in the United Kingdom. The company has experienced steady growth in its Services business since opening its first center three years ago. "We expect our Services business to produce excellent results for the current fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2002, and to generate an estimated 25% increase in sales over last year's volume of $19.6 million," said Sams.

Environmental Elements Corporation, a leading provider of air pollution control services, technology and equipment in North America for over 50 years, provides services, technology and equipment which enable a broad range of customers in the power generation, pulp and paper, waste-to-energy, rock products, metals and petrochemical industries worldwide to operate their facilities in compliance with particulate and gaseous emissions standards.
