The patented CerOx technology treats hazardous dioxin wastes in a commercial system, transforming the dioxins into CO2, water and neutralized chlorine. Dioxins are carcinogenic compounds that are formed when carbon and chlorine are present at high temperatures. Incinerators, cement kilns and industrial furnaces manufacture dioxin compounds in their outlet stacks, while processing hazardous wastes containing chlorine. This system destroys dioxins fed as waste and because the process operates at low temperatures, additional dioxins are not made.
