Eco-Tec Awarded Acid Purification Contract By Nippon Kinzoku

Pickering, ON – Eco-Tec is proud to announce that it has recently been awarded the contract for acid purification by Nippon Kinzoku Kogyo Kinurra Works of Japan. Nippon Kinzoku processes 200, 300, and 400 series stainless steel, and has ordered Eco-Tec's APU® system for its pickling operations. The APU® system has become a standard in several metal processing industries including aluminum anodizing and stainless steel pickling. Hundreds of Eco-Tec APU® systems are installed in over forty different countries around the world. Today, almost every new factory built for these operations incorporates an APU® due to its highly efficient and fully automated method to purify and recover inorganic acids.

The APU® employs an ion exchange technique known as Recoflo® (reciprocating flow ion exchange) technology. This technology incorporates specific resins that have the ability to sorb acids from pickling bath solutions, while excluding metallic salts of those acids. The process is reversible in that the acid can be readily desorbed from the resin with water.

Eco-Tec's Spectrum Micro Media Filters™ are part of Nippon Kinzoku's solution to perform online filtration, ahead of the APU®. Spent pickling acid from the pickling operation is pumped through the Spectrum Micro Media Filters™ where fine suspended solids are removed. The APU® package allows for resource recovery, pollution abatement, energy conservation, reduced line size, and increased productivity and quality.
