Eastern Technical Associates

ETA was founded in 1979 by Tom Rose and Willie S. Lee. Mr. Rose came from EPA Region IV and Mr. Lee was president of Environmental Industries. ETA was founded to provide high quality environmental measurements for clients. ETA started in a 400 square foot facility in Cary, North Carolina with the two principals and a secretary. We began to conduct Visible Emissions Training and Certification on a commercial basis that year. David Savage, our senior smoke school instructor joined us in 1980.

In 1980 ETA designed and conducted opacity field studies for EPA in support of method development, we also started to provide other support services to government and industry. ETA again outgrew it's offices in 1993 and moved into a 12,000 square foot facility we currently occupy in Raleigh.

If you are registering for smoke school you will probably end up speaking with Debbie Scalise. She is the one who keeps all of the smoke school records.
