California Regulators Approve NOx Mitigating Biodiesel Additive Solution By Biofuels Marketer Targray

CATANOX™ will address need for competitively-priced biodiesel additive options meeting strict new NOx emission standards in California

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) - California regulators have announced the certification of CATANOX™, a NOx mitigating biodiesel additive developed by biofuels marketer Targray to help meet the latest requirements of the state’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard. In an executive order published on February 22nd, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) stated the additive had been tested in accordance with Alternative Diesel Fuel (ADF) regulation and demonstrated NOx emissions equivalent to standard diesel, as well as a particulate matter emissions reduction of over 20 percent when compared to the benchmark CARB diesel.

Targray, one of the largest biodiesel marketers and distributors in California, is now the second company in the state to offer a CARB-certified NOx mitigation solution for biodiesel blenders. Beginning in March 2018, Targray will offer its biodiesel additive as part of a fully blended, B20-ready turnkey solution at fuel terminal locations in Los Angeles, Stockton, Fresno, and Bakersfield.

Alternative Diesel Fuel Regulation
Effective since January 1, 2016, the ADF regulation establishes a comprehensive, multistage process administering the commercialization of alternative diesel fuels in California. The ADF regulation governs the introduction and use of innovative alternative diesel fuels in California while preserving or enhancing public health, environmental and emission benefits of the existing motor vehicle diesel-fuel regulations. The ADF regulation includes specific provisions designed to control potential increases in oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions that could otherwise be caused using biodiesel under certain circumstances. Those provisions include a process for certification of additives or alternative diesel fuel formulations that have been shown to mitigate NOx increases from the use of biodiesel.
