Brown and Caldwell Acquires Eckenfelder Inc.

Brown and Caldwell (Pleasant Hill, CA) on August 31 announced its acquisition of Eckenfelder Inc. The acquired environmental-engineering firm is located in Nashville, TN. It specialized in industrial-water quality, remediation, and risk management.

Brown and Caldwell's President and CEO Craig Goehring cited Eckenfelder's East Coast presence as a key factor driving the acquisition.

The acquisition expands Brown and Caldwell's operations in the eastern U.S., adding two new offices in Nashville, TN, and Mahwah, NJ.

B&C said that Eckenfelder's industrial experience and 125 employees bring expertise and services that complement its private-sector business. It includes field and laboratory capabilities for treatability assessments and analytical testing.

The acquisition also also reportedly improves B&C's ability to handle projects involving industrial-water quality, environmental management and information systems, and risk-based, intrinsic remediation.

Eckenfelder's founder W. Wesley Eckenfelder Jr., is now a senior technical director with Brown and Caldwell. An authority on industrial-wastewater treatment, he will continue working full time with clients.

Senior Eckenfelder principals Jim Clarke and Bob Mutch are actively involved in business development and operations and now serve as senior vice presidents of Brown and Caldwell.
