Ascentium Partners With Project Two Degrees To Build Green House Gas Emissions Calculation Tool For City Government Use

Project Two Degrees Demonstrated at C40 Summit in Seoul, Korea

Seattle, WA /PRNewswire/ In an ongoing effort to combat global climate change, Ascentium Corporation announced today its partnership with the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI), a project of the William J. Clinton Foundation, Microsoft Corporation and Autodesk on Project Two Degrees (www.project2degrees.org), an Internet-based software application that provides cities with a set of tools used to measure greenhouse gas emissions at the local level.

Ascentium, a global digital agency, is responsible for the end-to-end architecture and development of the Project Two Degrees software application, which enables participating city administrations to establish a greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions baseline, manage inventories, create action plans and track the effectiveness of emissions reduction programs for municipal operations and the communities they serve. With these tools, cities can take meaningful action in curbing local and regional impacts from climate change, while conserving energy and saving money.

Project Two Degrees will be demonstrated at the third annual C40 Summit in Seoul, Korea on May 18 - 21, 2009. The Summit, which brings together representatives from approximately 70 cities across the world, is collaboration between the Clinton Climate Initiative and C40, a group of the world's largest cities united by their commitment to tackling climate change. Participants in C40 received the first invitations to begin using the Project Two Degrees software.

"We feel very honored to have been able to play a key role in developing Project Two Degrees. We believe that this greenhouse gas software application has the potential to become the standard measuring tool used world-wide to establish a common and agreed upon metric for greenhouse gas emissions, both for cities, governments, as well as private industry," said Jim Beebe, President of Ascentium.

About CLINTON CLIMATE INITIATIVE
The William J. Clinton Foundation launched the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) to create and advance solutions to the core issues driving climate change. Working with governments and businesses around the world to tailor local solutions that are economically and environmentally sustainable, CCI focuses on three strategic program areas: increasing energy efficiency in cities, catalyzing the large-scale supply of clean energy, and working to measure and value the carbon absorbed by forests. In each of these programs, CCI uses a holistic approach to address the major sources of greenhouse gas emissions and the people, policies, and practices that impact them. CCI serves as the action arm of the C40, an association of large cities around the world that have pledged to accelerate their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and of which New York is a member.
