Lemna Technologies, Inc.mpany%> is now marketing the Anaerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor (ASBR), which was developed by Iowa State University. The ASBR is based on converting conventional SBR technology to anaerobic operation. The result is a simplified system that involves no mechanical solids separations and achieves treatment efficiencies of 80-95% BOD removal. More distinctively, it does so with hydraulic retention times of only 8-24 hours. This rapid treatment is accomplished by granules which grow very slowly but consurne waste at a remarkably high rate.

The ASBR operates at temperatures from 15°C to 55°C. It is also able to withstand the shock loadings and periodic shutdowns that characterize industrial operations.
