Air Cub Sweeper
According to Jeroen Lens, Product Manager for the Air Cub, "The contractors that I spoke with were frustrated at getting thrown off of jobs because of noise. And what was considered ‘too loud' or a 'nuisance' can be very subjective. In some towns, too loud can be a single complaint. These contractors were concerned they would have to give up performance to sweep quietly. So when we set out to develop this new product, we combined what we knew about sweepers as well as sound reduction at Elgin Sweeper Company and our engineers came up with a way to have performance and quiet operation."
The Air Cub, mounted on 14,500 GVW chassis, features vacuum or regenerative sweeping modes, 3.3 cubic yard hopper capacity, 105 gallons of water as standard, large tool boxes and container height dumping. The most popular option featured is the sound suppression engine enclosure. Decibel readings registered numbers as low as the mid-60s in the cab and in the low 70s during drive by, which is as quiet as a standard automobile. The powerful side broom has also been noted to be an attractive option for contractors.
