Bailey-Fischer & Porter introduces its latest handheld smart transmitter terminal, the Type STT04
ABB Automation Inc. Instrumentation Divisionany%> introduces its latest handheld smart transmitter terminal, the Type STT04 featuring both Bailey FSK and HART communications protocols, making the terminal the first on the market with this capability. The STTO4 is used to configure, calibrate, monitor and troubleshoot field devices and can also interface with a personal computer.

The terminal's design takes advantage of the latest developments in communications technology and engineering to make the device simple to use. For example, clip leads connect easily to the loop or device, independent of line polarity. This frees the user's hands to view realtime process variables on the terminal.

Users can download the latest STT04 firmware upgrades via the internet, eliminating the need to return the unit to the factory for an upgrade. The device's rechargeable battery pack can operate for six days, a longer than earlier handheld terminals. In late 1997, the STT04 will be available with English, German, Spanish and French languages programmed into the terminal.

A trade-in program is currently underway in which users can get a 30% discount towards replacing their existing STT02/03 terminals with the new STT04.
