Summer Course On Thermal Hyperspectral Imaging

Source: TELOPS

Scientists, practitioners and managers are increasingly exposed to brand new, innovative, but also challenging techniques that provide information on the state of our environment. The Centre de Recherche Public - Gabriel Lippmann (CRP-GL) in Luxembourg jointly with the company Telops (Quebec, Canada) is presenting a summer course on Thermal Hyperspectral Imaging, one of the hottest new tools in remote sensing. The aim is to provide a solid background in theory related to infrared spectroscopy and thermal hyperspectral imaging as well as hands-on experience with the Hyper-Cam, a long wave infrared imaging system.

The course will cover the following themes:

  • Basics in thermal remote sensing and infrared spectroscopy;
  • Hyper-Cam hyperspectral imager and the software tool Reveal;
  • Demonstrations and practicals on data acquisition, processing and analysis;
  • Applications of the learned techniques to interesting fields such as air quality assessment, mineral and rock identification, and plant condition mapping.
