Resin is material (or resin beads) having ion exchange properties used in ion exchange systems for water treatment. Calcium and magnesium carbonates in hard water adhere to the surfaces of pipes and heat exchanger surfaces. The resulting scale buildup restricts water flow in pipes and boilers, reducing heating efficiency, that can ultimately lead to boiler failure.
