About Us
Monitoring Outdoor Air QualityMonitoring volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) is rapidly becoming an essential part of today's environmental monitoring programs due to increased public awareness, government regulations and enforcement. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and state departments of environmental quality have instituted regulations to minimize emissions of toxic gases that can be emitted by industry, automobiles, and during remediation of hazardous waste sites. Several methods are being used to monitor emissions sources and track the migration of any releases that may be a health hazard for neighboring communities or the environment. These methods include survey instruments used to monitor fugitive emissions in refineries and petrochemical plants (EPA Method 21), stack emissions for total hydrocarbons (EPA Method 25A), fenceline monitoring for methane/non-methane hydrocarbons as well as BTEX, and other VOCs in ambient air monitoring networks.
