SRA Commits To Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions 35% By 2020

SRA

Company also commits to achieve 90% recycling rate

Fairfax, VA /PRNewswire/ -- SRA International, Inc., a leading provider of IT solutions and professional services to government organizations, today announced the company has established a goal to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by fiscal year 2020 relative to a fiscal year 2007 baseline. SRA's 2007 Scope 1 and 2 GHG goal baseline is 6,267.9 metric tons CO2-equivalent (MTCO2e). SRA has further committed to reduce paper use by 75% per person (from FY 2007 use) and to achieve a 90% recycling rate by FY 2020.

SRA made the formal announcement at yesterday's roundtable discussion hosted by the Obama Administration to spotlight companies that are demonstrating leadership by committing to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. The event, part of President Obama's initiative to address climate change, brought together some of the largest Federal suppliers with Senior Administration officials to discuss the benefits of their greenhouse gas emission reduction targets or to make new commitments to disclose emissions and set new reduction goals. In addition to the commitments announced today, SRA noted that the company has already reduced GHGs by 30% from its 2007 baseline to 4,371.05 metric tons CO2-equivalent (MTCO2e).

Paul Nedzbala, Executive Vice President of SRA's Health and Civil group attended the discussion and commented, "Taking care of our communities is a fundamental concept within SRA's enduring values of Honesty & Service® and we are pleased to make public our commitment to reduce our GHG footprint. We also are proud to lend our mission and information technology expertise to help federal customers including the Department of Energy, Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Environmental Protection Agency deliver programs that reduce pollution and promote energy efficiency and renewable energy. These programs protect the environment, improve public health, and help secure our energy independence."

In 2007, SRA launched the Go Green initiative to identify, assess and implement initiatives to help the company operate more efficiently and with a lighter environmental footprint. Demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, SRA has already reduced paper use by 60%, recycled about 1.5 million pounds of paper, and reused and recycled our electronic assets, diverting nearly 40,000 pounds of waste from landfills.
