ISO 9000 Standards were created to promote consistent quality practices across international borders and to facilitate the international exchange of goods and services. The Guidance Standards include ISO 9000-1 and ISO 9004-1. Conformance Standards include ISO 9001, ISO 9002, and ISO 9003.

Meeting the stringent standards of ISO 9000 gives a company confidence in its quality management and assurance systems. Registration adds credibility. It provides independent, third-party evidence to customers and potential customers that a supplier's quality system conforms with ISO 9001, ISO 9002, or ISO 9003.This provides confidence that the registered supplier will provide products and services that meet their expectations.

Established in 1944, NSF International has been involved in the development of standards, conformity assessment, and Third Party Certification services for over 50 years. This is our only business. NSF International currently carries out some 5,000-product certification audits for over 3,000 customers around the world every year. We have been accredited to provide ISO 9000 certification since 1993, and were one of the first Registrars to receive QS-9000 accreditation from the Dutch Council for Accreditation (RvA) in April, 1995. Accreditation by the Registrar Accreditation Board (RAB) for QS-9000 was achieved in 1996. NSF-ISR is accredited to register organizations in more than 30 industries and is continually adding to this list.
