Hazardous Waste Cleanup Begins At Crest Rubber Company In Alliance, Ohio

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently began a cleanup of hazardous wastes at Crest Rubber Company’s former factory and warehouse at 633 North Union Ave., Alliance, Ohio. The company operated at the site from 1992 until November 2015 when the site was abandoned.

EPA will remove more than 500 55-gallon drums along with 1,000 smaller containers of hazardous waste, many in poor condition that are corroding or leaking. Contaminants include ignitable wastes, benzene and tetrachloroethene (PERC). In November 2016, Ohio EPA referred the site to EPA for cleanup.
