AirPol Offers Air Pollution Control Technology Advantage In Pulp And Paper Industry

Forty-five years and the installation of over 1,400 air pollution control systems has given AirPol a distinct technology advantage over the competition for building and modifying air pollution control systems in the pulp and paper industry. Industries, in which a water treatment infrastructure is pre-existing, like in the pulp and paper industry, can benefit from using AirPol’s wet pollution control systems which include the Venturi scrubber, cyclonic scrubbers, and the wet scrubber.

A spokesperson from AirPol stated, “Our wet pollution controls grab fine particles and mist from the airstream in boilers, dissolving tank vents, lime sludge kilns, slakers, lime handling, TRS incinerators and bleach plants. We design the systems that provide the best particulate removal to successfully meet new and existing EPA rules and MACT standards.”

Pulp and Paper Control Systems
Generally, pulp and paper control systems may consist of two Venturi scrubber for bark, coal, oil-fired power boilers at a paper mill. The Venturi throats are 7.5’ in diameter with pneumatic cylinder operated double dampers.

Additional AirPol Pollution Control Systems
In addition to Venturi Scrubbers, AirPol also used wet scrubbers such as the acid gas absorber. AirPol’s open spray tower is highly efficient and maintenance-free. This acid gas absorber system has proven highly successful in numerous installations worldwide and its applications include boiler flue gas desulfurization and HCl (Hydrogen Chloride) removal, HF/SO2 (Hydrogen flouride/Sulfur dioxide) absorption in the aluminum industry, and lime sludge kilns for sulfur dioxide control.
