Suited for applications that require a significant number of theoretical stages or where headroom is limited, the Sheibel Column
Koch Extraction Technologies, Inc.applications that require a significant number of theoretical stages or where headroom is limited, the Sheibel Column consists of a series of impellers mounted on a central shaft. Each of these impellers is contained within a set of horizontal inner baffles, which direct the mixed fluids rapidly toward the vessel wall. There, horizontal outer baffles provide a settling zone for the light and heavy phases, and also serve to redirect the phases back toward the vessel center. This arrangement of baffles promotes a high degree of radial mixing while minimizing axial mixing.

The entire shaft and impeller assembly is suspended from a gearbox at the top of the column, so there are no internal bearings to be maintained. All maintenance is performed outside of the column. The drive is equipped with a variable speed motor to allow optimization of column performance.

The column shell can be constructed of carbon steel, stainless steel or higher alloys, glass-lined steel, or FRP. The internals can be constructed of stainless steel, higher alloys, or FRP.
