A&WMA And AMS Offer Joint Conference On Applications Of Air Pollution Meteorology
Pittsburgh, PA - The Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) and the American Meteorological Society (AMS) will offer the 15th joint conference on the Applications of Air Pollution Meteorology Jan. 20-24, 2008, as part of the AMS annual meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. The theme of this year's meeting is "Enhancing the Connectivity between Research and Applications for the Benefit of Society."
"The partnership between A&WMA and AMS gives environmental professionals the opportunity to examine the significant effect that weather has on pollution and to provide valuable input for the development of appropriate regulations and solutions to these problems," said Adrianne Carolla, A&WMA Executive Director.
Applications of Air Pollution Meteorology will consider air quality modeling and forecasting; pollutant transport, transformation, and the removal process; laboratory experiments and field observations; atmospheric chemistry, turbulent mixing, and boundary layer dynamics; photochemical modeling and monitoring; air quality forecasting and data assimilation; and all other aspects of air pollution meteorology.
The sessions will include speakers from national and international associations, organizations, and universities, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Japanese Petroleum Energy Company, National University of Ireland, and Duke University.
The conference will also include an opening plenary session featuring Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans and a presidential forum titled "Hurricane Katrina: Looking Back to Look Ahead."
