A&WMA And University Of Maryland Host Conference On Thermal Treatment Technologies

Pittsburgh PA - The Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) and the University of Maryland will present the 27th International Conference on Thermal Treatment Technologies, May 12-16, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This conference will provide a forum for the exchange of state-of-the-art technical information on thermal treatment technologies.

"Experts from around the world will be attending to present research and share their findings on thermal treatment technologies," said Adrianne Carolla, A&WMA Executive Director. "This is the premier event for environmental professionals to network and share information on this topic."

Practical applications of technical and scientific advances will be presented by experts from the international community for the management of radioactive wastes, hazardous chemical wastes, mixed wastes, munitions, medical/pharmaceutical wastes, municipal wastes, and industrial wastes.

The conference will offer papers that address approaches to safely managing waste streams amenable to thermal treatment processes, and evaluate their associated costs, risks, and impacts. Topics will include specific applications of thermal treatment technologies; operational issues; government and regulatory policy issues; hazardous waste combustor MACT rule; research and development; alternatives to incineration; and alternative energy and greenhouse gas reduction.
